Colombia - Wild and Free

Colombia - Wild and Free

Part 1:  Empire of the Great Rivers: Amazon and Orinoco
Part 2: From the Andes to the Pacific

With peace after decades of violent rebellion, Colombia can at last reveal its natural glories: snowcapped mountains and glaciers, rainforests, mysterious tepui table mountains, thundering waterfalls, swamps, lonely coasts - and a dizzying variety of wildlife.

Part I The Amazon jungle is the habitat of giant otters, harpy eagles and hidden tribes. The Orinoco's plains, swamps and forests host the South American Big Five: jaguar, capybara, Orinoco crocodile, giant anteater and anaconda.

Part II Here are high moors, glaciers, volcanoes - and forests with ocelots and glittering hummingbirds. Raccoon- like coatis live at ground level, climbing into the trees to mate and give birth. Coastal forests fringe vital turtle-breeding beaches. Silky and hammerhead shark, whale shark and tuna patrol the cliff-side waters around the island of Malpelo.
