Lake Baikal - Source of Life

Lake Baikal - Source of Life

The world's largest and deepest freshwater lake is home to a dizzying array of wildlife. Brown bears, freshwater seals, wolves, and tiny musk deer with their gleaming miniature tusks, survive in a harsh but beautiful habitat, where meter-thick ice in winter can support railway trains! During the short, lush Siberian summer migrating black storks return to the dense forests surrounding the lake, filling the air with their distinctive hisses and whistles; while the rare Siberian Lynx with its extra-thick coat patrols its 100 square kilometers of territory through the year.
