The Future of AgeingDie Zukunft des AlternsHumanity has been confronted with a new problem. The world's population is ageing at an increasing speed while the birth rate is falling - and not just in developed countries. Naturally these new projections have a significant political dimension too: the declining birth rate is having a negative impact on economic growth, education is becoming more expensive etc. This documentary takes a look at the question of ageing and the changes that it is bringing to the community - including the biological processes of ageing cells and tissue and how best to safeguard health and quality of life as one gets older. Moreover it tries to offer solutions how to make our environment more «elderly friendly» through changes to infrastructure, city planning and technological advances. |
