Syria - The Legacy of the Islamic State
Syrien - Das Erbe des IS
In the shadow of the Corona crisis, the jihadists of the Islamic state in Syria are rehearsing the uprising. Thousands of IS fighters in the IS prison near Heseke in the Syrian Kurdish area have temporarily taken control of parts of the prison. An alarm signal: the IS has been territorially defeated, but the danger that the Islamists will regain strength is greater than ever.
A journalist visited the former IS areas in northern Syria and reports from the long-standing IS stronghold Rakka, Naim Square in Rakka, where the IS has carried out public beheadings, and the notorious IS women's prison camp Al-Hol, where thousands of European jihadists are held. And she has visited the famous Kurdish women's militias, who played a major role in the victory over the IS. Countless young Kurdish women have lost their lives in the fight against the IS. The women are now preparing for further missions.
