The Vienna Boys Choir
Abenteuer Wiener Sängerknaben
During the day they ride skateboards, listen to techno, love soccer and don’t like going to school. In the evening they sing on the stages of international concert halls: the Vienna Boys’ Choir. In 1998 they celebrated their 500 year jubilee – with singing, of course. There is hardly any other institution that is associated with Austria in such an unreservedly positive way as this boys’ choir that has such a rich tradition. The film captures the atmosphere in which the boys live; their leisure time and sports at the Vienna Augarten Palace, their professional work beginning with early musical training and progressing to concert appearances, special voice lessons for solo performances at the Vienna State Opera, geography classes in preparation for a world tour. This film accompanies one of the four choirs from their summer holiday home at Lake Wörther in Carinthia to Carnegie Hall in New York.
