Backwoods Crimes - Death At The Reservoir
Landkrimi - Der Tote im See
Grete Öller, a detective with the Linz State Office of Criminal Investigation, is called with her colleague Lisa Nemeth to a body that has been found in the Styrdurchbruch reservoir. Everything quickly seems to be clear: the dead man - Erich Dirnbacher - not only suffered from depression after his wife left him, taking the children, he was also in the advanced stages of cancer. Obviously he committed suicide. But Grete and Lisa discover something in Dirnbacher's house that affects Grete personally: Dirnbacher was the driver who absconded years ago after killing Sepp Ahorner's family in a car accident. Sepp searched for the culprit for so long back then that he had to be given early retirement on the grounds of unfitness to work.
Now of all times, when she has finally dealt with the failure of their relationship, Grete Öller has to bring the news to Sepp in person. She sets off for Mühlviertel with Lisa. But Sepp has disappeared and no one knows where he is. Not even his mother, Maria, who isn't happy that Grete has shown up. Grete's surprise at Sepp's disappearance and Maria's hostile behaviour quickly gives way to concern about Sepp. Why has he gone underground? And why has he taken one of his father's old hunting rifles with him?
