Backwoods Crimes - If You Knew How Beautiful It Is Here
Landkrimi - Wenn du wüsstest wie schön es hier ist
Hannes Muck, a station commander in Hüttenberg - a town in the remote Carinthian Görtschitz valley with a big past as a mining community - has only seen bodies from his days as a young traffic cop and from television. But he is suddenly in charge of solving the case of the local MP's daughter's death just after the local dance festival. When it becomes clear that Barbara was murdered, the usually tranquil town goes numb. A murder in his beloved Hüttenberg, a victim among his childhood friends, in the football club, the marching band? Unthinkable! Hannes's intuition leads him to the nearby home for young people from disadvantaged social backgrounds, where matron Susanne Kert enchants Hannes with her austere charm ...The enlisted Chief Inspector Heinrich Plöschberger from Klagenfurt tackles the case more abruptly than Hannes as he assesses the situation and bombards "his people" with blunt and targeted questions. Facts gradually come to light, leaving Hannes in shock. But when Barbara's phone is found, the suspicion falls on Slati, one of the young people from the home and Barbara's secret friend. But when the local MP's chauffeur demands the surrender of the boy, Muck stands against his own people for the first time and defends Slati. Charly and Muck get into a fight so violent that Hannes has to suspend his friend, which grants him Muck's long awaited respect. The police find a video on Barbara's phone showing her and Charly (the local MP's lover) having sexual intercourse. Barbara had probably made this video as an act of rebellion against her strict father before she had wanted to elope with Slati. But when Prantl confronted his daughter after the dance festival, rage and disappointment at Charly's betrayal took over and he eventually slaps Barbara so violently she fell and remained motionless. In panic, the desperate Prantl covered up the fact and dumped the body in a disused mine shaft. When the police car with the member of parliament leaves the valley, Hannes also knows that his own little idyll has come to an end: he grabs his father's old backpack, ties his hiking boots and sets out into the world, accompanied by the anxious question, if Susanne will still be there for him at the end of his journey ...
