2014 INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS Semi-Final Round of Judging, Vienna

ORF-Enterprise and the IMZ - International Music + Media Centre were once again entitled by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to host the Semi-Final Judging for the 2014 International Emmy® Awards in the four categories documentary (English-Language), documentary (Asia/Africa/Middle East), TV Movie/Mini-Series (Latin America) and Best Performance by an Actor (Latin America). This year ORF-Enterprise and IMZ joined forces with Graf Film, winner of the International Emmy® Award in 2013 for the film "A Day for a Miracle".

Around 50 top representatives of the national and international film and TV industry got together as jurors in Vienna in order to make recommendations for the best nominees for the grand finale at the International Emmy® Gala in New York on November 24th, 2014. Among others the international submissions have been judged by Emmy® Award winner Andrew Winter, German producer Tita von Hardenberg and Andreas Prochaska, director of the International Emmy® Award winner "A Day for a Miracle".

On July 3rd, 2014, the Semi-Final Round of Judging Vienna has been organised by the three hosts Beatrice Cox-Riesenfelder (ORF-Enterprise), Franz Patay (IMZ) and Klaus Graf (Graf Film) at the prestigious location of Palais Schönburg in Vienna. With around 300 people from 25 countries the International Emmy® Awards Semi-Final Round of Judging is one of the largest networking events of the Austrian film industry.

"The entitlement to host the Semi-Final Judging for the 2014 International Emmy Awards for the ninth time in Vienna reinforces the international importance of Austria as a media location. The great success of domestic productions such as "A Day for a Miracle" not only affirms the accomplishments of the entire film and TV sector but also points out the international achievements of the Austrian film industry", underlines Beatrice Cox-Riesenfelder (Managing Director, ORF-Enterprise).

"In 2014, the category TV-Movie/Mini-Series will be judged for the first time. This is a great indication of the significantly increasing reputation of Austria in the international film industry caused by its international success and acquirements." says Klaus Graf (Chief Executive, Graf Film). Franz Patay (Secretary General, IMZ) is proud -"We are delighted to be member of the Academy for 13 years now hosting the Semi-Final Judging for the 9th time in a row. Vienna, as one of the most profiled locations for film and TV productions, ranks among the 15 cities internationally that are exclusively entitled to host the Semi-Final Judging. "

THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is a membership-based organization in which leading media outlets and entertainment figures from over 50 countries and 500 companies from all sectors are represented. The members meet three to four times per year in order to propose standards and promote philosophies for the future of a quality-oriented, global TV programming.

The committee deliberates on the rules and regulations for the International Emmy® Awards as well as the management of the organization. The Board of Directors has its largest meeting in November on the day of the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City. The Academy was founded in 1969 to promote excellence in international television programming and is the organization that presents the International Emmy Award in 20 categories to the best television programmes produced, and initially aired, outside the U.S.

THE INTERNATIONAL EMMY AWARDS®

Every November, the Academy presents the International Emmy World Television Festival and the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City.
