Paphos - No Man's Home

Paphos - Das Leben der Anderen in Zyperns verlassenen Häusern

What happens to a society in which every fifth is forced to leave his home and live at someone else's place? When Cyprus was politically divided in 1974, large parts of the population were forcefully moved. 200,000 people, almost 20% of the entire population were affected. Even whole villages have lost their entire original population. This movie tells the story of this cultural dislocation from the perspective of two young Cyprians. Critically asking, they are representatives of a young generation full of intelligent, self-confident and politically interested Cyprians who want to leave behind the deadlocked position of their parents and grandparents concerning the Cyprus dispute and its consequences. Without losing track of their cultural origin. On their way they meet two strong Cyprian women who shaped the reappraisal of the conflict in the past few years in individual ways.
