Vienna Opera Ball

Opernball

The traditional Vienna Opera Ball is the highlight of the Viennese ball season, taking place in the building of the Vienna State Opera, which, almost overnight, is being transformed into a glittering, extravagant ball room. The Vienna Opera Ball sticks to the strict traditional dress code of white tie and tails for men and floor-length ballgowns for women. Among the guests are national and international politicians, businessmen, artists and stars like Sophia Loren, Geri Halliwell, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, and Nicollette Sheridan. The opening ceremony begins with the famous polonaise danced by young men and women all dressed in black and white. Arias by opera singers and dances by the Vienna State Opera and children's ballets complete the picture.
